Danilo to Rangers transfer timeline emerges but striker has one hurdle left to clear as Feyenoord plan crunch talks
Rangers have tabled one final ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ bid to prise Brazilian striker Danilo away from Feyenoord.
Record Sport revealed last week that the deal was in danger of collapsing after the Dutch champions dismissed an increased offer of around £5.2 million plus potential add ons as a ‘low ball’ approach - leaving the Ibrox club assessing a list of alternative attacking options. But chief executive James Bisgrove returned to the negotiations on Sunday with an offer which is believed to be significantly closer to Feyenoord’s €6.5 million price tag.
And, with the 24-year-old already telling manager Arne Slot that his heart is set on moving to the Scottish Premiership, Rangers top brass now hope that a deal can finally be concluded in the next 48 hours. The Eredivise outfit are expected to give their answer at some point on Monday following a final round of discussions which are likely to include Slot.
The boss has been stubbornly resisting the idea of allowing Danilo to leave without first bringing in back-up as first choice striker Santiago Giminez will be suspended for the club’s opening two group stage games in the Champions League.
Relations between both clubs have become increasingly strained during a protracted period of talks but Bisgrove’s fourth official bid could be enough to get a deal across the line. Sources in Holland believe the clubs have entered into advanced talks to thrash out the details - and Danilo hopes to be granted permission to travel to Scotland early this week to rubber-stamp his own personal terms.
If he does finally make it to Ibrox he looks set to be joined by another new boy, Jose Cifuentes from Los Angeles FC. Rangers have already agreed a pre-contract with the Ecuadorian midfielder
