Cray Valley sign Gillingham goalkeeper Taite Holtam on loan after Colchester United recall Harrison Chamberlain from the Isthmian Premier Division side
Gillingham goalkeeper Taite Holtam has joined Cray Valley PM on loan.
Holtam has signed for the Isthmian Premier Division strugglers ahead of their tough trip to promotion-chasing side Aveley and has agreed a deal for the remainder of the season.
Cray Valley are currently in the bottom four and were beaten by Potters Bar on Saturday, another team fighting to avoid the drop.
They made a move for the Gills keeper after another League 2 side, Colchester United, recalled their keeper Harrison Chamberlain.
Holtam, 20, has been on the bench for Gillingham in League 2 this season but dropped back out of the matchday squad as Glenn Morris has returned from injury to take over as no.1 ahead of Jake Turner.
The young keeper’s only first-team action this season came in a 3-0 home EFL Trophy defeat against Wycombe Wanderers.
Last season he played twice, making his league debut and keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over MK Dons before playing at Cheltenham a week later.
In November, he extended his contract at the Gills, which will seem him tied to the club until the summer of 2027.
Earlier this season he spent time on loan at Ashford United, where he made 12 appearances for the Isthmian South East side.
He’s had previous loan moves to Herne Bay, Phoenix Sports and Sheppey United.
