Gillingham manager Gareth Ainsworth vows to make changes ahead of trip to Notts County in League 2 with new signing Ronan Hale in line to make his full debut

Gillingham boss Gareth Ainsworth is ready to make changes when they return to action this evening.

The Gills visit Notts County on the back of a 4-1 humbling by leaders Bromley at Priestfield on Saturday.

“Having the squad that we've got, I think there will be rotation in the team because they're a good side as well,” warned Ainsworth.

“Tuesday is an important game - they're all important. My worry is that we've got the games coming up at the end of the season because of the cancellations we've had.

“I know Bromley played Tuesday and it was mentioned that they had a game Tuesday, we didn't. But if anything, those fixtures that are in a schedule, that helps sometimes.

“Bromley looked really up for it, really good. We looked a little bit rusty, like we'd been on a bus for two days and not had a game on the Tuesday and probably a little bit down for that. We were all ready for the Cheltenham game.

“We're going to have to make sure we win it when it's rearranged. But you've got to be professional in everything you do.”

Ainsworth is hoping the Bromley game proves to be a one-off, otherwise he’ll be making major changes to his squad in the summer.

“(It was) just an off day today for a lot of players,” he added. “If it keeps happening, then obviously I'm quite aware things will have to be done.

“I'm hoping it was just this one off that sometimes players get. Their keeper did make some great saves but they hit us hard in that first 27 minutes.

“That's a team that we didn't look like we could handle and that's not us, definitely not. We've played big teams in this league (before). That surprised me, but it definitely keeps me on my toes as well.”
