Craig Gordon adamant Scotland believe they can beat ANYONE and he sees a major difference to Euro 2020

Craig Gordon has insisted Scotland’s Euro 2024-bound squad believe they can get results against ANYONE.

That will be put to the test when Steve Clarke’s side face one of their toughest challenges, ahead of Germany, when they take on fellow finalists the Netherlands in a friendly in the Johan Cruyff Arena on Friday night. Clarke is looking to finetune his team ahead of the finals, where the Scots will face host nation Germany, Switzerland and Hungary in Group A.

Gordon, talking ahead of the trip to Amsterdam and next week’s home friendly against Northern Ireland, said: “It will be a difficult first game up, away from home, against another team that have qualified. We have done well away from home and the team always sets up really well. We are a difficult team to beat.

“I expect us to go there and work on that side of our game. We always believe we can get results against anyone. It will be a good test for us and to come back to Hampden in a game where we will be looking to attack a little bit more and to try and get some goals and entertain the fans. It is a good balance between the two games for everybody and we will all be hoping to get on the park.”

The Hearts keeper is back in the squad after 18 months out through injury. He is one of four goalies to have been selected but after battling back he wants to force his way back into Scotland’s starting XI and add to his 74 caps. The determined 41-year-old insisted: “There is more to go. There is always the next one.

“I am always very happy to get back to this level and I want to continue that and get back playing. I would love to be out there playing for the national team and that will drive me on to try and achieve that and to gain as many caps as I possibly can. There
