Where Steve Clarke's Scotland salary ranks as Euro 2024 manager money list revealed

Steve Clarke will be among the lowest-paid managers at this summer's Euro 2024 according to a new report by football finance experts.

The Scotland boss will lead his team into the European Championships this summer after qualifying for two Euros in a row. The Scots will open the tournament against hosts Germany in Munich and will also face Switzerland in Cologne before facing the Hungarians in Stuttgart. But of the 24 nations who will be in Germany, Clarke is only the 18th best-paid boss and his salary is dwarfed by most of the other managers.

And none more so than England manager Gareth Southgate who is paid over ten times what Clarke reportedly gets, with the Scotland boss on a reported salary of £472,000 compared with Auld Enemy boss Southgate who is on just shy of £5 million a year at £4.97 million. The findings by Football Finance - which describes itself as a specialised site about financial and economic matters of football - revealed that Clarke's opposite number in the dugout of the opening game, Germany's Julian Nagelsmann, is on £4.11 million and is the second best-paid coach.

Swiss boss Murat Yakin is eighth on the list at £1.37 million, but Clarke's yearly remuneration is ahead of final opponents Hungary's manager Marco Rossi, who is on £257,000. Elsewhere on the list, Portugal gaffer and one-time Motherwell midfielder Roberto Martinez sits third on an annual salary of £3.43 million, with France boss Didier Deschamps not far behind him on £3.25 million a year.
