"Could open the door for Tottenham" - Journalist says Levy may get second chance to sign 26 y/o

Barcelona’s financial situation could give Tottenham an opportunity to finally sign Adama Traore this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Spurs were heavily linked with Traore in the past two transfer windows, only for the Spanish international to move to Barcelona in late January instead.

Traore is currently on loan at Barcelona from Wolves until the end of the season. The Catalan giants have the option to buy the winger outright in the coming months, and it is believed that they would have to pay around £29m if they choose to sign him on a permanent deal.

However, the club’s president Joan Laporta has admitted that they may not have the funds to pay Wolves’ asking price, meaning that Traore’s stay at the Nou Camp could be a short one.

Laporta has revealed that Barcelona will make a final decision on whether to sign Traore on a permanent basis when the season concludes.

O’Rourke thinks Tottenham may be able to take advantage of Barcelona’s financial issues, and land the signature of their long-term target in the off-season.

When asked about what Barcelona’s lack of funds could mean moving forward, O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “That could open the door for Tottenham to come back in for Traore. They had thought they might get him in January. They were quite hopeful that a deal could be done before Barcelona came in and lured Traore back to the Nou Camp.”

If Traore is available, it could depend on whether he would be happy to play as a wing-back in Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 formation.
