Journalist says Wolves "planning for life without" ace Bruno Lage labelled a "top player"

Wolverhampton Wanderers are planning for life without Adama Traore but the Molineux hierarchy would rather cash-in on the winger instead of agreeing to a player exchange, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Bruno Lage – who was appointed as Wolves’ head coach last summer – could look to freshen up his squad ahead of next season and Traore is among those expected to leave the West Midlands outfit.

Traore secured a move away from Molineux in the final days of the January transfer window, with him sealing a loan switch to former club Barcelona and the agreement including the option of a £29million permanent transfer.

Although the 26-year-old has been productive in the final third of the pitch since heading back to the Nou Camp, there are doubts over whether he will remain with the Catalan giants.

According to Spanish sources, Barcelona have no intention of paying the pre-agreed £29million fee to ensure Traore remains with the club beyond the end of the season.

It has emerged that the wide-man could join Tottenham Hotspur if he does not stay with his boyhood club.

Spurs were understood to be edging towards a £20million deal for Traore before Barcelona hijacked the move in January.

O’Rourke believes Wolves are expecting Traore to leave the club, whether that be for Barcelona or elsewhere, in the summer.

However, following reports claiming Wolves have reached an agreement with Barcelona over a swap deal involving Francisco Trincao remaining at Molineux, the journalist reckons the West Midlands side will not be interested in a player exchange.

Instead, he reckons Traore’s parent club will be eager to recoup a sizeable fee for his services.
