Coronation Street viewers say 'clever nod' as show explains Cassie's 'perfect teeth'

Coronation Street viewers were amused at a 'clever nod' as the show's writers made a bid to explain Cassie's 'perfect teeth'. The character, played by Claire Sweeney is a recent arrival, revealing herself to Tyrone Dobbs as his mum.

However fans have pointed out that the star's beautiful white gnashers seem to be a little at odds with Cassie's dishevelled appearance. The character has been shown to be struggling with her drug habit.

In Wednesday night's episode the writers attempted to address the point, with Cassie mentioning that her teeth were the result of expensive visits to the dentist. When Tyrone reminded daughter Hope Stape about brushing her teeth, Cassie told her: "Look after them, I don't want you forking out like I've had to over the years. These have cost me a fortune."

It came at the start of a dramatic hour for Tyrone and his mum, with the trusting son agreeing to give her £80 to go into town to collect boots for Ruby's birthday present. Cassie promised him: "I'll go straight into town and I'll be back before you know it. Think of her little face."

She added "I've been clean for two months now. I won't let you down" - but in later scenes was shown to be meeting her dealer before collapsing.
