Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank lays bare life on soap as he addresses future amid first gay wedding

Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has revealed what life is like working on one of the country's biggest soaps as he addressed his future on the cobbles. The actor joined the ITV soap in 2014 as Billy Mayhew and has been a regular in Weatherfield ever since.

Billy actually started off his time on the Cobbles having met Sean Tully and they had a two-year relationship before Billy left Sean for Todd Grimshaw. Soon after, Billy and Todd's guardianship of Summer Spellman came about in 2017 when Summer's adoptive father Drew Spellman, Billy's ex, asked them in his dying months to take her on.

But Todd disappeared in 2018 while Billy remained in Weatherfield with Summer, living at 19a Rosamund Street. Finally getting over Todd, Billy ended up in a two-year relationship with Paul Foreman which ended when Todd - and his scheming ways, returned and enacted a campaign to split the couple up.

The pair were due to get married after Todd popped the question but in typical Corrie fashion, Todd's lies were exposed and Billy had his heart broken all over again. Billy has since rekindled his romance with Paul but tragedy lies ahead for the pair after Paul was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

The former builder discovered the heartbreaking news that he had the fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord in scenes aired in April. Paul, who only discovered anything was wrong after he was accidentally knocked over by Carla Connor in her Underworld van when she had been unknowingly drugged with LSD by Stephen Reid, kept the news from his loved ones.
