Coronation Street star Alan Halsall issues three-word reaction as co-star Claire Sweeney gets role away from cobbles

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall had a three-word reaction to his co-star Claire Sweeney bagging a new role away form the cobbles. The actress joined the ITV soap earlier this year as the biological mum of Alan's long-running character Tyrone Dobbs.

Claire, who is probably best known for her portrayal of Lindsey Corkill in the scouse soap Brookside before carving out a successful theatre career, is now playing Cassie Plumer in Corrie, with her character revealing herself to be Tyrone's drug addict mum, who he thought was dead, and that his grandmother, Evelyn, knew all along that her daughter was alive all this time.

But it's been revealed that at the start of next year, Claire will be swapping the cobbles for the ice as she was named as one of the celebrities taking part in Dancing on Ice 2024. The 52-year-old shared the news on This Morning on Wednesday (September 27) with the skating show's host Holly Willoughby.

She said: "I'm really looking forward to going to an ice rink with my son and actually being able to skate and not have to use the penguins they give you to help you stay upright!" before adding: "I’ve had to wear my boots around the house… I haven’t stepped on the ice yet."

Claire then took to social media to share the news with her followers as she shared the announcement image and said: "So excited to be doing Dancing on Ice 2024." And Alan was among the first to respond as he shared a crying laughing emoji before writing: "Go on Mum."

Fellow Corrie co-star Sally Carman-Duttine commented: "Whooooop!"
