Coronation Street's Jodie Prenger confirms romance for Glenda Shuttleworth with 'unlikely' suitor

Coronation Street star Jodie Prenger has confirmed that she'll soon be having an on-screen romance joking, "I don't know who's more thrilled – Jodie or Glenda!"

The actress joined the ITV soap back in 2022 as Glenda Shuttleworth, the sister of local undertaker George. Fresh from the cruise ships, Glenda has since found herself at home behind the bar of the Rovers Return after eventually winning over landlady Jenny Connor.

But before romance, Jodie, who is famed for her work in the West End and theatre stages across the UK from appearing in Olver to Annie, has said viewers will see the 'scariest thing' she's filmed in her entire career.

Next week, the Rovers Return will be the location of a terrifying robbery when Jenny heads off to a posh dinner with Rita Tanner and Daisy goes away with Ryan Connor. They leave behind a glammed-up Glenda who agrees to host the speed dating night at the Rovers

The night is lacking in romance aside from Daisy's mum Christina taking a shine to a guy with a tattoo. Soon, with the chaos of the evening over and the pub closed, Glenda heads through to the bar to find masked burglars raiding the till. One of the men orders Glenda to get down on the floor and terrified, Glenda does as she’s told. As the robbers make off with the takings, a tearful and panicky Glenda calls the police.

Speaking about the scenes, Jodie told the Manchester Evening News: "So it [the speed dating] was going really well and Glenda and Daisy's mum team up and Glenda gets this guy involved... It was a very bad judgement and one thing led to another which was without a doubt
