Coronation Street fans surprised by unrecognisable Lauren and Max stars as they dazzle away from the cobbles

Coronation Street fans struggled to recognise two of the soap's stars as the cast stepped out for a glamorous night at the TV Choice Awards. Some of the biggest names in TV gathered at London Hilton on Park Lane on Monday night (February 13), including the cobbles actors.

The official Coronation Street Instagram account shared a selection of photos of the cast ahead of the big night. The first photo showed Evelyn Plummer actress Dame Maureen Lipman alongside Craig Tinker actor Colson Smith and Lauren Bolton actress Cait Fitton.

The trio looked seriously chic, with Maureen wearing a black trouser and blazer combo with a white ruffled top. Craig wore a black suit and tie paired with white trainers, while Cait stunned in a floor-length dress with matching lipstick.

Another photo saw Cait posing next to Paddy Bever, who plays Max Turner in the long-running ITV soap. Max sported a beige blazer with a smart white shirt and a white tie adorned with delicate blue flowers. Paul Foreman actor Peter Ash and Ryan Connor actor Ryan Prescott were also papped.

Captioning the post, the official Coronation Street Instagram account wrote: "Don’t they scrub up well? Here are some of our cast looking amazing at tonight’s TV Choice awards - Wish us luck".

But fans were particularly taken aback by Cait and Paddy, who looked worlds away from their Coronation Street characters at the fancy do. Some people didn't even recognise the pair.
