Coronation Street fans' disbelief as they say 'that can't be right' over Rita and Barbara Knox

Coronation Street fans were left flocking to social media to share their disbelief over Rita Tanner's age as her birthday was celebrated in the latest trip to Weatherfield. The ITV soap aired on Thursday night (February 29) and it was all systems go in the Rovers.

Jenny Connor, with the help of Daisy Midgeley and Glenda Shuttleworth, organised a surprise birthday party for Rita with the beloved pub getting a bit of a celebratory spruce-up with banners and balloons galore.

It was Ken Barlow and Audrey Roberts who appeared tasked with getting Rita to the boozer for a birthday tipple and the iconic character appeared delighted as she was surprised by her nearest and dearest on her special day.

But it was prior to the party that landlady Jenny revealed that Rita was turning 92 as she vetoed the idea of party poppers. But the age revelation left Corrie fans amazed and they also commented on actress Barbara Knox's real age after she turned 90 in September.
