Cops saw car stopped on the street - and immediately knew driver would be fined

A Bolton driver was slapped with a £100 fine over the place they decided to stop their car. Officers spotted the grey Seat Leon parked up on Egerton Street, in Farnworth, on Wednesday evening (September 4).

But the exact location the car had come to a halt was problem for other road users - and police decided to act. The Seat was stopped on the controlled area of a pedestrian crossing.

An image shared by Greater Manchester Police shows the car parked on zig-zag lines, next to a set of traffic lights with a pelican crossing. It's an area of the road where pedestrians need to have a full view of oncoming traffic.

GMP says the driver was issued a £100 fine and picked up three points on their licence, with the incident being classed as an 'endorsement offence'. A GMP Traffic spokesperson wrote on X: "XQ14 in Bolton this evening [Wednesday] came across this vehicle stopped on the controlled area of a pedestrian crossing.

"Zig zags are there so pedestrians waiting or crossing have full view of the road. This is an endorsement offence picking up three points and £100 fine."
