Clyde job turned down by Mick Kennedy as East Kilbride boss opts to remain in Lowland League

East Kilbride manager Mick Kennedy has turned down the chance to become the boss at League Two Clyde.

The 43-year-old held discussions with representatives from Clyde over the last fortnight about the possibility of him taking the reins at the Bully Wee and the job was Kennedy's if he wanted it.

However, after giving the role serious consideration, Kennedy has opted to continue at K-Park, where he currently has East Kilbride on a 15-game unbeaten run in the Lowland League and eight points clear at the top of the table with two games in hand.

This morning, Kennedy would not be drawn on any dealings with the Bully Wee but said: "I know there has been speculation, but I am happy and content at East Kilbride.

"My focus is on winning the league here and getting the team promoted to League Two."

Interim boss Chris Millar remains at the helm ahead of Saturday's huge clash with fellow strugglers East Fife, as Clyde turn their attentions to other candidates.

Clyde fell to the bottom of League Two on Saturday after a 1-1 draw at Forfar left them a point adrift of ninth-place Elgin, who parted company with boss Barry Smith yesterday. The Bully Wee have also played a game more than the rest of the bottom four in the division.

Ironically, EK and Clyde could meet at the end of the season in the pyramid play-off final if Clyde remain where they are and Kilby win the title and the Highland/Lowland League play-off for a shot at promotion to the SPFL.

Kilby defeated Cumbernauld Colts 2-0 on Saturday, thanks to two Liam Brown penalties, to take a real stranglehold on the fifth tier.
