Residents evacuated as 'stolen' car smashes into home after police chase

A suspected stolen car smashed into a house in Gorton following a police chase.

The car was first spotted by officers at around 9.50pm last night (Monday). Officers gave chase as it was suspected to have been stolen.

After a 'short' chase, the car crashed into a house on Chapman Street. Residents inside the home had to be evacuated 'as a precaution'.

A cordon was put in place on a stretch of the street as emergency crews responded. A teenage male - aged 19 - was taken to hospital after suffering head and leg injuries, police said.

It has not yet been confirmed whether any arrests were made. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers spotted a vehicle, believed to have been stolen, at around 9:50pm last night (13/11/23).

"Following a short pursuit, the car crashed into a house on Chapman Street, Manchester. Emergency services attended and a 19-year-male was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries.

"Residents from the house were evacuated as a precaution."
