Clinton Nsiala 'set for' Rangers transfer with AC Milan defender to become free agent

Rangers are reportedly on the brink of signing Clinton Nsiala as the defender prepares to leave AC Milan at the end of his contract.

Boss Philippe Clement and director of football recruitment Nils Koppen have been quick to get down to work during a major rebuild of the Ibrox dressing room with Mohamed Diomande, Jefte and Oscar Cortes all penning permanent deals with the club since the end of the season. And reports in France suggest that 20-year-old Nsiala is set to join the Ibrox overhaul from the Serie A giants.

The France youth international has made just one first-team appearance for Milan but has impressed for the youth side - with Foot Mercato claiming that German duo Hamburg and Stuttgart and also Italian clubs Monza and Empoli were all in the race to sign the prospect. However, Rangers are said to have been "one step ahead" having scouted Nsiala "on numerous occasions".

It is claimed that he is "on the verge of completing" a deal to move to the Scottish Premiership despite an offer being on the table from Milan. It is said that the centre-back was "seduced" by "the prospect of evolving at a major European club which plays for the title every season."
