Christian Ramirez cools Aberdeen transfer exit talk with striker set to return for pre-season training

USA international Christian Ramirez will report for pre-season training with Aberdeen amid speculation of a move back to America.

The California native made the move from the Houston Dynamo to the Pittodrie side last summer as Stephen Glass launched his revolution at the club.

He got off to the perfect start in Scotland after bagging four goals in his first four games, but his form dipped following Glass' exit.

Ramirez ended the season with a return of 16 goals but struggled to hold down a starting spot towards the end of the campaign.

His family returned to the United States early and that prompted the striker to engage with fans questioning whether he will follow suit on social media.

Ramirez was granted a chance to return home early by Jim Goodwin with two games left to "recharge his batteries" in America.

That only fuelled speculation that he would be making his return to Major League Soccer next season, but he has already returned to Scotland according to The Press and Journal.

He is back in the country with Goodwin set to oversee the players return to training at Cormack Park on Wednesday.

Midfielder Lewis Ferguson will be the only notable absentee as he is involved with Scotland's Nations League trip to Armenia.
