Christian Eriksen drops hint about Manchester United's free-kick plan after Mason Mount arrival

Christian Eriksen has revealed the responsibility of delivering Manchester United's set-pieces is set to be shared next season.

United scored just five goals from set pieces in the Premier League last term and that was the fewest in the top flight, with relegated sides Southampton, Leeds and Leicester all scoring more from such scenarios.

Liverpool led the way with 17 league goals from set-pieces and there's recognition at United that it's an area for improvement, something which Erik ten Hag is understood to be involved with ahead of the new campaign.

Eric Ramsay joined the backroom staff to take charge of set plays in the summer of 2021, but it's understood the coach has taken on a much wider role since the arrival of Ten Hag and he is no longer solely responsible in that area.

Eriksen is currently on the pre-season tour of the USA and he sat down with club media this week to discuss a wide range of topics, including the arrival of Mason Mount, who often took set-pieces for Chelsea.

The 31-year-old reflected on Mount's first weeks at United and he gave a brief hint about who will take set-pieces for United going forward.

"I think he's [Mount] been taken very good care of," Eriksen said. "I think he's felt at home. I think, already, he doesn't seem like he's that new. I think he mingles in very well and fits in and is playing well.

"I mean I think everyone knows his qualities and he’s definitely a player that will add to our team in a very positive way. I definitely hope he will bring that [experience] and I'm sure he will. Like you said, he's been in finals and he's won them.
