Chris Sutton in Rangers parting shot at Alfredo Morelos as Celtic hero brands final Ibrox season 'a disgrace'

Chris Sutton says Alfredo Morelos disgraced himself during his final year at Ibrox.

The Colombian is still searching for a new club two months after leaving Rangers. But former Celtic striker Sutton reckons that’s no surprise after seeing El Buffalo let himself go as his Light Blues contract ran down. The Sky Sports pundit was assessing Rangers’ summer recruitment drive when he said: “The big one for Rangers is the striking position because I thought Morelos last season was a disgrace.

“He wasn’t conditioned and it’s interesting he’s on a free and he can’t find a club — although he may have a club I don’t know. There’s a reason for that. You get a bad reputation if you are not conditioned and ready to go. It’s sad because he’s clearly a talented player who scored big goals for Rangers over the years, especially in European competition. I think Rangers will miss Ryan Kent. His numbers were not what they should have been but Ryan was a talented player.

“Sam Lammers has had a reasonable preseason. Danilo has been in and out of the Feyenoord team and looks a young player who is reasonably talented. It’s how they all fit. It’s how they all gel.”

Sutton found himself going head to head with Ibrox playmaker Todd Cantwell on social media last month. But he says it’s time for the Norwich ace to walk the walk if he’s going to talk the talk online.

Asked if he felt the former England youth international could live up to last year’s promising displays Sutton said: “I think he can. He’s a talented boy. He lost his way at Norwich a bit then he came here and he and Nico Raskin did okay at the end of the season.
