Many Rangers fans would have expected Alfredo Morelos to quickly find a new club when his Ibrox contract expired at the end of last season - but the Colombian remains in the football wilderness.

Despite a disappointing final season at Ibrox, the striker left the Scottish Premiership with an impressive goalscoring record and a spot in the Rangers history books having become the club's leading European goalscorer. However, the exploits of the 27-year-old during his time in Glasgow hasn't won over any club so far with the free agent watching from the sidelines while European clubs kick-off their new campaigns.

Speaking in his homeland earlier this summer, the frontman revealed that he has tasked his agent with landing a dream move to a top European league. He said: "I have made it clear I want to stay in Europe and play football there. We are currently working towards making that happen."

But despite reports throughout the summer that the likes of Sevilla, Everton and Watford had shown an interest in the out of contract star he is still on the hunt for a new club. And with pre-season behind most clubs, a return to South America could be on the cards.

Brazilian outlet Tura TV claim that Gremio have offered Morelos a deal next season to act as back up from Luis Suarez. The former Liverpool and Barcelona superstar has been plagued by injuries throughout the last 12 months - and Morelos is reportedly viewed as suitable support for the 36-year-old.
