Chelsea now 'interested' in £17m Premier League star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are interested in signing Wolves centre back Max Kilman, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Despite the recent arrival of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, the Stamford Bridge outfit are still looking for further defensive reinforcements, with Jones hinting that Kilman could become an option for the Blues.

Koulibaly’s arrival should provide stiff competition to Thomas Tuchel’s backline, but with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen both moved on, Chelsea need more central defenders on board.

They’ve already missed out on Nathan Ake, who’s now expected to stay at Manchester City, while Barcelona look to have pipped the Blues to the signing of Jules Kounde, as they did with Raphinha.

But Chelsea are targeting a move for Leicester star Wesley Fofana, while Kilman has been of interest in the past.

Back in February, talkSPORT claimed that the Londoners were ‘considering a summer transfer bid’ for the Wolves defender, who impressed playing in a back three under Bruno Lage last season.

Despite having just under four years remaining on his Molineux contract, Kilman is valued at just £17m by CIES, which suggests that he could be available for relatively cheap compared to the likes of Ake, Kounde and Presnel Kimpembe, who’s also been linked in this window.

When asked about centre back alternatives after the disappointment of missing out on Kounde, he told GIVEMESPORT: “There are other players that they’re interested in. I think Max Kilman might be one of them at Wolves, so that might be one to look out for.”
