Chelsea: Boehly 'tempted to make offer' for £480k-a-week star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is ‘tempted to make an offer’ which would see Cristiano Ronaldo swap Manchester United for Stamford Bridge, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Boehly led a £4.25billion takeover of the west Londoners in May and has played a leading role in negotiating deals during the summer window.

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United’s starting line-up at the weekend, but things did not go to plan as he could not stop his current employers falling to a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Brentford.

It is well documented that the Portuguese forward is desperate to move onto pastures new and he has asked the Red Devils’ hierarchy to grant his wish if a satisfactory offer is lodged.

The development came after Boehly held a meeting with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes, where a potential switch to Chelsea was discussed.

It is understood that the west Londoners have been considering a move despite Manchester United’s insistence that their talisman is not for sale.

Ronaldo is eager to leave Old Trafford due to wanting to compete in the Champions League and the Red Devils’ sixth place Premier League finish last season was not enough to secure qualification.

Jones understands that Boehly is mulling over whether to test Manchester United’s resolve by heading to the negotiating table.

However, the transfer insider is aware that Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel is not particularly keen on completing the deal and is unsure as to where Ronaldo would fit into the Blues’ system.
