Chelsea now 'in discussions' over £30m star leaving Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are currently in discussions to terminate Denis Zakaria‘s loan in January, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The midfielder only joined the Blues in the last transfer window but is yet to play a single minute for them.

Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel ran into some problems with his midfield early in the season.

This term, both N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic have had injury problems. In fact, the former recently suffered a setback in training ahead of making a return to first-team action.

"It is not ideal, and certainly disappointing for both him and for us," Tuchel's successor Graham Potter said in a recent press conference.

With Kante proving unreliable, Chelsea and Tuchel decided to sign Zakaria from Juventus just before the transfer window closed, bringing him in on loan with an option to buy. It is believed that they can sign the 25-year-old permanently for £30m.

Phillips has told GIVEMESPORT that Chelsea are ready to cut Zakaria's season-long loan short.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "He's not really shown enough match fitness yet to get any game time. But as well as that, discussions are taking place right now at Chelsea regarding terminating his loan move in January, so this would suggest it is not going to plan right now."

At this stage, it looks very likely. Zakaria is by no means a bad footballer, with Borussia Monchengladbach legend Gunter Netzer hailing him in the past for being a really good team player.
