Chelsea 'definitely in the market' to sign 63-goal star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are definitely still in the market to sign Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

Thomas Tuchel has overseen a busy summer at Stamford Bridge, with over £160 million spent on new signings already, but there remains time to strengthen further.

According to the Guardian, Chelsea are still pushing to sign the 33-year-old forward from the Camp Nou before the deadline as they look to bolster their striking options.

It has previously been reported that the Blues were in the midst of advanced talks over a move for Aubameyang, according to Sky Sports, with personal terms agreed.

The report adds that discussions were progressing with Barcelona over a transfer fee with a deal of between £15 million and £25 million on the cards.

However, Chelsea face competition from fellow Premier League giants Manchester United, with Di Marzio claiming the Red Devils see the Gabon international as the man to lead their attack.  

Tuchel remains in need of striking reinforcements despite already spending £50 million on Raheem Sterling.

Since the end of last season, Romelu Lukaku has returned to Inter Milan on loan and Timo Werner has been re-signed by RB Leipzig, leaving space for a striker at Stamford Bridge.

Sheth claims that Barcelona are open to striking an agreement after Aubameyang was left as an unused substitute for Sunday’s clash with Real Valladolid.

The Sky Sports reporter understands Chelsea remain interested while United are continuing to monitor the situation.
