Chelsea: £42m star will 'figure highly' on Potter's list at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea will be looking to sign Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo in the coming transfer windows if Graham Potter looks to bolster his midfield at Stamford Bridge, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Potter took over as Blues manager when Thomas Tuchel was sacked following the culmination of the summer window, meaning the former Seagulls’ boss is yet to make his mark on the side.

Brighton signed the 20-year-old from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle for just £4.5 million on deadline day in the 2021 winter window, penning a three-and-a-half-year deal at the Amex.

But he has quickly risen to become one of the Premier League’s most promising midfield talents, with Liverpool and Manchester United both linked with his services over the summer.

Jurgen Klopp and co. were plotting a late £42 million move for Caicedo after being hit by an injury crisis in midfield, according to the Sun, but a move never came to fruition.

However, the player has admitted that he could be open to reuniting with Potter in west London, calling the Blues one of the ‘best teams in the world’ in an interview with Ole.

Caicedo added that ‘nobody’ would turn down an offer from Chelsea, describing the potential move as a ‘dream’ for him.

O’Rourke believes that, if Potter intends to strengthen his midfield options, Caicedo will inevitably be high on Chelsea’s wishlist.

The journalist adds that the manager’s connection with the 23-cap Ecuador international means he will have an added insight into what he could bring.
