Former Premier League forward Teddy Sheringham has claimed that Declan Rice is worth up to £160m as both Chelsea and Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for the West Ham United star.

The England midfielder has continually been linked with moves after starring for the Hammers over recent seasons.

Chelsea are among the clubs to have emerged as admirers in Rice - their interest stretching back to the tenure of Frank Lampard. Elsewhere, the Red Devils have been backed to make a move as they continue their search for a potential Paul Pogba replacement - the Frenchman’s contract expiring at the end of the season.

However, Sheringham has suggested that a move for the midfielder could be one of the most expensive transfers in world football.

Speaking with Genting Casino, he said: "I think Moyes said something about him being a £100 million player, didn’t he?

“I’d hold on to him and say, “I want more than that, this player’s unbelievable, he’s better than that. If you really want this guy you’re going to have to break the bank and show me you think of him as much as I do, because I’m not letting him go for £100 million.”

He continued: "You tell me about a midfield player in the world at the moment. He’s double.
