Manchester United have a free week before getting down to business in the Manchester derby.

Following back to back victories over Brighton and Leeds United, the Old Trafford giants were held by relegation-threatened Watford on Saturday afternoon and that result has dented their top-four hopes.

Arsenal sit two points behind United and have three games in hand.

They didn't even have to kick a ball at the weekend, either, as Ralf Rangnick and his team put in preparations for a showdown with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon (4.30pm) at the Etihad Stadium.

Amid their ongoing charge for Champions League qualification, United also have one eye on the summer window and West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has already been identified as a priority target.

United know that they need to learn from past mistakes when they appoint their next permanent manager and The Mail state new chief executive Richard Arnold wants the appointment sorted as soon as possible after the season finishes.

The report states: “Arnold wants to appoint the new man as soon as possible after the end of the season so he can play a part in recruiting new signings to replace those who will go this summer.”

Roy Keane was asked who he thinks United's next permanent manager should be.

The former captain told The Overlap Live: "Maybe Simeone, he’s the right kind of character. He’s having a difficult spell with Atletico. His race has maybe run with them.
