Chelsea: £25m Premier League move now 'on the cards' at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea could still make a late move to sign Leicester City star before tonight’s 11pm deadline, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Thomas Tuchel is still in the market for an engine operator following his recent injury crisis and Phillips reckons that Tielemans moving to Stamford Bridge is still “on the cards”.

Arsenal have been frontrunners for the Belgium international throughout the summer, but with the Gunners now pursuing a deal for Aston Villa man Douglas Luiz, Chelsea could have a free run at Tielemans’ signature.

The 25-year-old, who started Leicester’s 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge last weekend, has entered the final 12 months of his £120,000 per-week King Power Stadium contract and wants to play in the Champions League.

Chelsea have seemingly made Ajax star Edson Alvarez their top target after they launched a £43m bid, while PSV man Ibrahim Sangare is also on the Blues’ radar as Tuchel looks to provide squad depth in the middle of the park.

Despite links with other centre midfielders, Phillips reckons that Tielemans signing for Chelsea before the 11pm deadline can’t yet be completely ruled out.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “My source tells me this morning that Youri Tielemans is on the cards to Chelsea, so he’s another one they’re looking at during this late stage.”

Leicester are back in action this evening against Manchester United, so it’ll soon become clear whether he’ll definitely be at club past the cut-off point or if he could exit in the coming hours.

With the game at the King Power Stadium kicking off three hours before the window slams shut, Chelsea need to act quickly if they’re to launch a last-gasp bid in an attempt to turn Tielemans’ head.
