Chelsea ‘could pursue’ £42m Premier League star at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea ‘could pursue’ a deal for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo in the future but his name has not ‘cropped up’ in conversations at Stamford Bridge as of yet, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
Graham Potter has taken over as manager in west London and could look to his former club for new recruits in upcoming windows.
The end of the summer transfer window saw Liverpool submit a £42 million offer for the 20-year-old as Jurgen Klopp looked to bolster his midfield.
It was ultimately rejected while it was understood that Manchester United held an interest in signing Caicedo as well, but the player remained at Brighton beyond the deadline.
Potter was appointed as Chelsea manager after Thomas Tuchel’s controversial sacking this month and will likely have held talks with chairman Todd Boehly and the rest of the board over a recruitment plan.
In an interview with Ole, via the Evening Standard, Caicedo has hinted that he would like to follow his former manager to the Blues in the future.
Caicedo claimed that Chelsea were one of the ‘best teams in the world’ and that ‘nobody would turn down an offer’ from them. He described the prospect of playing at Stamford Bridge as a ‘dream’.
Jones understands that it is possible Chelsea will move for Caicedo in the future because of his obvious links to Potter.
However, the transfer insider adds that his name is yet to crop up in conversations and that the likes of Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham and Edson Alvarez are still admired.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s an obvious link to make with Caicedo and I am not ruling out that it could be one they pursue, but he hasn’t really cropped up in many conversations as far as I have heard. Beyond that, we know they like Rice,
