Chatham Town Women’s manager Keith Boanas looks ahead to their game at second-placed National League Division 1 South East side Norwich City

Boss Keith Boanas is eager to see Chatham Town Women put in a strong display as they face another stiff test this Sunday.

Chats, fourth in National League Division 1 South East, visit second-placed Norwich City.

Chatham head to Norwich on the back of successive wins after they lost 3-1 at leaders Fulham earlier this month.

Boanas said: “The key word for us is ‘Performance.’.

“We know we can put in a great performance, as we did in the first half against Fulham to a certain point, and that might still not be enough to get a result.

“It’s about cutting out those errors. We should be realising we shouldn’t be making those mistakes.

“The only reason why the other side should get the ball is by it going out of play - we shouldn’t be giving it back to them.

“If we put our best foot forward, it should be another close game.

“It’s a long way to go. Certainly, we want to come back with a decent performance but, ideally, points on the board, as well.

“That would be the icing on the cake.”

Norwich edged a five-goal match at the Bauvill Stadium in November while they also did the double over Chats last term, including gaining a 2-1 triumph on home soil in February.

Boanas said: “It’s always tough against them but, at their home, it’s even tougher. When we went there last season, we had to deal with some of the worst officiating I’ve ever seen!

“But the priority is to keep our performances going in the right direction.”

Chatham had to work hard to complete the double over Cambridge with last weekend’s 2-0 victory.

Boanas reflected: “It was hard fought. It was 0-0 at half-time.

“As I expected - as Actonians did the weekend before - they were more focused on defending and trying to hit us on counter-attacks.
