Chatham Town play away against Southern League Premier South side Berkhamsted in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy this Saturday after last weekend’s FA Cup win away against Slough Town

Chatham Town turn their attention to the FA Trophy this weekend determined to keep their cup momentum going.

The Chats travel to Southern League Premier South side Berkhamsted on Saturday for their third qualifying round tie, just days after producing another FA Cup upset at Slough.

Kevin Hake’s side enjoyed a memorable 1-0 victory away against National League South opponents Slough Town last Saturday, with Jack Lyons’ goal booking their place in the next round.

Now the Chatham boss wants his players to carry that confidence into another competition where they enjoyed a strong run last season.

Hake said: “Our attention now turns to the FA Trophy – a competition we enjoyed a fantastic run in last season, and we’ll be looking to build on that again this year.”

Chatham Town’s FA Cup adventure is gathering pace – and Hake is already dreaming of more special days after their latest win in the competition.

They have been rewarded with another tough away trip, with Hake’s side drawn to play away against another National League South side, Dorking Wanderers, on Saturday, October 3.

Dorking edged through with a 5-4 extra-time victory over Southall.

Chatham had to make a change in goal for their trip to Slough, with regular goalkeeper Nathan Harvey suspended following his red card in the previous week’s Isthmian Premier defeat to Eastbourne Borough.

George Hardy joined the club on loan from Charlton Athletic and stepped in for his FA Cup debut, while midfielder Harry Brooke was also brought in ahead of the game.

Hake was delighted with the way his players handled the occasion.
