Championship stars who could be shrewd additions for Super League clubs in 2023

Super League clubs are once again casting an eye on the Championship as the recruitment market hots up. The abundance of talent which has graduated through the second tier in recent years is there for all to see, and the current campaign has proved the calibre of players that could make the step up again is there.

The Championship season itself has been thrilling, with stories at both ends of the table, as well as a fascinating race for the play-offs as the regular season approaches the final furlongs. But a number of players could well be in the frame for moves to Super League irrespective of the performances of their own team across the remainder of 2022.

Whether it's teams fighting for promotion or simply pushing for the play-offs, there are lots of Championship players who would be shrewd additions for Super League clubs. Here, Rugby League Live picks some of the best.

Massive player merry-go-round in the works as clubs look for mid-season transfers

Lachlan Walmsley has been linked with Super League in the past, with a move rumoured last year when he was scoring tries for fun at Whitehaven. The winger is at it again with Halifax Panthers in 2022, having already crossed for an impressive 19 tries.

Fax will be keen to keep hold of Walmsley without question as they continue their own fine Championship form this year. But given how he is eligible for Scotland at this autumn's Rugby League World Cup, there's an even bigger chance his talents will be showcased to the world in the months ahead.

Many Super League clubs are keeping their eyes on the World Cup, and deliberately holding back space in their squads in case any stars emerge. Walmsley could well be one of those.
