Goldberg: WWE Hall of Famer names current star who could be 'next Goldberg'

Former WWE Universal Champion Goldberg has named who he thinks could be the ‘next Goldberg’ from the current WWE roster.

The WWE Hall of Famer is one of the most intense and dominant Superstars to ever step through the ropes and it led to his famous 173-0 undefeated streak in WCW, at the peak of his wrestling career.

In more recent years the 55-year-old has been used as an attraction for big marquee events and has seen Goldberg mix it up with the current crop of stars, including Dolph Ziggler, Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley.

Speaking with  CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjouri on Shak Wrestling the WCW icon was asked who he thinks could be WWE’s ‘next Goldberg’ and his reply was short and emphatic. Simply replying by saying “Bron Breakker.”

The current and two-time NXT Champion does have the same impactful style as Goldberg did in his late nineties pomp and is a big reason why he’s been chosen as the face of rebranded NXT into NXT 2.0.

Ironically Goldberg has first hand knowledge of Breakker’s father, fellow WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner, have battled the Dog-faced Gremlin back in their WCW days together.

Earlier this week Goldberg revealed he was still under contract with WWE and that he’s ready and wating for the call if and when the company need him for an angle or match.

A possible angle with Breakker could appeal to WWE as they could compare the two eras and likenesses to each other, while playing into the history Goldberg has with Steiner, both as an opponent and ally in WCW.

Goldberg hasn’t wrestled for WWE since the defeat to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in February, when many expected that would be the last time we saw him compete in a wrestling match.
