Celtic WILL edge Rangers in titanic title tussle as Parkhead legend maps out roller coaster run in

Paul Lambert has named the key moment that will define the title race...but still fancies Celtic to go the distance.

Rangers grabbed top spot in the Premiership over the weekend after another fresh twist in the battle for the league crown. Brendan Rodgers and Celtic dropped points at the death at home to Kilmarnock with the home support making their feelings known loud and clear as the full time whistle went in Glasgow's east end. That draw presented Philippe Clement's men the chance to move two points clear with a win over St Johnstone in Perth and they delivered as they ran out 3-0 winners on Sunday afternoon.

It's been quite the turnaround with 12 huge games still to come including two Old Firm showdowns at Ibrox and Parkhead. Former Celtic midfielder Lambert reckons the destination of the league trophy will come at the home of the current champions when they go head to head in the league split with the 54-year-old backing his old club to just edge it. Lambert, speaking on behalf of BoyleSports who offer the latest SPFL odds, said "I think it is going to be really close, a lot is riding on the Old Firm games at the end of the season. If the two of them keep winning and Celtic head to Ibrox and basically just don't lose, then the title will be theirs.

"If Rangers can win that game, then it is game on. The defining moment of the season will come at Parkhead, this season is much closer than people realise. But it is going to be just edged by Celtic. They've got enough lads there who have the experience of winning titles and have been there before."

When the duo go head to head at their respective stadiums, they will only be a full house of home supporters backing the teams. That is because of a ban on away attendance
