Celtic transfer state of play on Tete, Elyounoussi and Yang as exact Frimpong windfall 'revealed' with Arsenal circling

Brendan Rodgers has wasted no time in getting the ball rolling in his second spell at Celtic and while all seems to have gone quiet for now, it won't take much for things to burst into life again on the transfer front.

Jota's move to Saudi Arabia coupled with qualification for the Champions League leaves the Parkhead club better off to the tune of almost £70m than they would have been otherwise and it's likely a healthy slab of that cash is going to be plunged straight back into Rodgers' playing squad. Around £4m in total has been spent on Marco Tilio and Odin Thiago Holm but fans are waiting on their first established, big-name arrival.

That could come in the form of a player they know well. Moi Elyounoussi who remains a free agent after leaving Southampton. He scored 24 goals and registered 14 assists in 67 appearances across his last loan spell and his similarities for Jota put him up there as a frontrunner to replace him.

Frank McAvennie, though, reckons his old club have enough options in that position with the likes of Daizen Maeda - who has recently penned a new deal - and Liel Abada. He told Football Insider: "I liked Elyounoussi, I thought he was a good player but I think they have got enough players there. I don't know who is going to come in and who is going to leave. I think it is a strange situation but I think things are going to move very quickly.“

One alternative to Elyounoussi could be winger Tete who seemingly wants to rip up his contract at Shakhtar with a Brendan Rodgers reunion well and truly on the cards.
