Celtic transfer news latest as Tiago Araujo arrival a 'strong possibility' with Harry Kewell close to packing his bags
Tiago Arajuo is likely to arrive at Celtic in the New Year, it has been claimed.
Brendan Rodgers' side got the Champions League monkey off their back on Wednesday night with a spirited 2-1 win over Feyenoord. It is their first win in 15 at Europe's top table and also ends a 10-year wait for a home victory in the competition's group stage. They may be heading out of the tournament bottom of Group E, but did pocket around £2.4m and two coefficient points for their midweek efforts.
Now attention turns to January and Estoril star Arajuo has been linked with making a switch from Portugal's Liga Nos. Daily Mail journalist Stephen McGowan has claimed that it's a distinct possibility that the Benfica academy graduate may make the move to Celtic. He told PLZ: "Tiago Araujo is a very strong possibility for Celtic in January. I suspect that is one that might happen."
Elsewhere, boss Rodgers is likely preparing for a departure from his coaching staff. He confirmed last week there is interest in Harry Kewell as the first-team coach attracts the attention of Yokohama F. Marinos. They want him to take over as manager from fellow Australian Kevin Muscat.
Sponichi claim that talks are going well and there is optimism a deal will be done. They state: "It is highly likely that Harry Kewell (45), a former Australian national team forward who currently coaches Scottish First Division (sic) Celtic, will be Yokohama's new manager next season.
"According to people involved, negotiations are going well and Kewell himself is enthusiastic about taking the position. If he is appointed, Kewell's first appearance will be in the first round of the ACL finals tournament next February (13th or 14th)."
