Celtic transfer news latest as Scott McKenna 'enquiry' made with Nottingham Forest January exit on the cards

Scott McKenna could be set for a stunning return to Scotland with Celtic said to be 'one of a number of clubs' interested in the Scotland defender.

The former Aberdeen stopper made the move south of the border with Nottingham Forest in 2020 and helped the club reach the English Premier League. But McKenna is currently out of favour at the City Ground with just five appearances to his name this season with his last outing in the league coming in a 1-1 draw with Burnley back in September.

PLZ Soccer reports 'tentative enquires' have been made as Brendan Rodgers looks to add to his centre-back options. Nat Phillips' short-term loan from Liverpool is set to expire while Gustaf Lagerbielke has been linked with a move away during the transfer window. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Stephen Welsh have struggled with knocks in recent times with Liam Scales proving the mainstay at the back with Maik Nawrocki picking up rare minutes from the bench against Rangers at the weekend.
