Celtic transfer bulletin as Viljami Sinisalo urged to aim higher and Palma takes on Honduran trailblazer role

Brendan Rodgers' top transfer priority this summer remains a new Celtic No1 with Joe Hart hanging up his gloves.

It is an area of the park that has brought numerous names to the table as the Scottish champions continued to be linked with goalkeepers from near home and afar as they aim to land the perfect candidate to aid their hopes of maintaining their domestic dominance and make a splash in the Champions League. One name previously linked is Aston Villa's Viljami Sinisalo, who spent last season on loan in English League One with Exeter City. The stopper has a big fan in team-mate Shaun MacDonald, who knows the man ahead of him in the pecking order last season is too good for England's third tier.

He reckons a move up the ladder to the English Championship - where there is believed to be interest - or to Scotland with Celtic would be 'great'. He told the Athletic: "He’s wasting his time coming back to League One next year. I’ve said that openly and he agrees. He’s got a year left on his contract, so he would probably have to sign a new deal if he was going on loan again. I would say move to the Championship. I saw stories about Celtic, so something like that would be great.”

The season of wheeling and dealing is well underway with Celtic wanting to secure returns for both Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo. One man who arrived last summer and picked up league and Scottish Cup winners medals is Luis Palma and he hopes many of his fellow countrymen can follow in his footsteps as he issued a challenge to his colleagues.

He said: "If it was up to me, there would be a lot of Hondurans at Celtic. But to do that, a player has to reach a really high level. I hope I am a trailblazer in that respect. There is no closed door for a move
