Celtic told leave Europe to Rangers as Rodgers urged to swallow his pride and ask how it's done - Hotline

Rangers fans were out in force in the wake of their team's fine win over Sparta Prague - but they seemed as happy to gloat over Celtic's hammering in Madrid.

Steve Macleod, Wokingham, emailed: "Well done to Rangers again, winning in Europe isn’t for everyone but always possible with super Jack Butland in goal. The eight minutes of injury time at Ibrox does make you wonder why there were only two added minutes in Madrid following a second half of four goals and seven subs. Was it cut short as an act of mercy?" John Davidson, Kirkintilloch, said: "It's been put down to Rangers to fly the flag in Europe to keep amassing points to protect the coefficient, as the two other Scottish representatives look to tumble out with two games still to play."

George Wilson, West Sussex, said: "It's comical reading the Celtic camp trying to deflect and camouflage their latest humiliation in Europe by bringing up Rangers worst ever Champions League campaign last season. Rangers were indeed poor but played much of that campaign with a rookie 18 year old (Leon King) and a reserve midfielder (James Sands) as their main middle two in the back four.

"Rangers were poor for one season. Celtic have been getting humiliated in Europe for 20 years and have made no progress at all since the Martin O’Neil days. Two wins in 35 away group stage games and no group home wins in 10 years. It’s only when you see it in writing you realise how embarrassingly bad that is. Leave Europe to Rangers."
