Celtic fans smell Rangers fear as scattergun transfer approach sees 'standing still' jibe fired back - Hotline

Rangers are hoping Leon Balogun can give them a blast from the past after re-signing their title-winning stopper. But the Hoops fans on the Hotline reckon the arrival of the 35-year-old centre-back is proof the future will be bright for the Bhoys.

Jim McSorley, Bothwell, was first to call in: “This time last year a lot of Rangers supporters were talking about Celtic standing still with permanent signings of Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers. Well I wonder what they now think of Rangers resigning Balogun? An injury prone 35-year-old who only 12 months ago was not deemed good enough! It’s a backward step that augurs well for Celtic and the season ahead!”

Lance Little, Erskine, added: “You can smell the fear coming from the blue side of Glasgow. Their catty comments about Celtic’s manager and captain are disrespectful and embarrassing. Their signings are scattergun and reminiscent of Pedro Caixinha’s time. They hold no fear for any SPFL club.

"The latest is a previously rejected 35-year-old. If they needed back-up, why not buy a half-decent player instead of shopping in the freebies bin? Their fans believe all the media spin as per usual. Happy days!”

Michael Emonds, Northampton, is also in confident mood, saying: “Caller Chris Lowe says Celtic haven’t spent any of the money they’re supposed to have, but never a word about Rangers spending all the money they don’t have. It’s the same old whinging every year, then he goes into hiding when the month of May comes around with Celtic heading for their usual clean sweep of trophies.”
