Celtic fans 'infiltrate' Portimonense pre-season clash but debate rages over supporter presence at secret friendly

Celtic fans are split after clips of the closer-door friendly clash with Portimonense appeared on social media.

The Premiership champions are in Portugal for a training camp and are facing Portuguese side behind closed doors as part of their preparations. The showdown hasn't been advertised by either club and Celtic have gone dark across their channels, with no updates provided on the action - with a blackout put in place by both clubs.

Due to start at 5pm UK time, action was delayed until 6pm according to locals in the area as fans sought access to the match before they were turned away. Further photos and video have been shared on social media that show a handful of fans taking in the action - with some watching from behind a hedge and another peering over a fence to get a glimpse of their team in action. A live-stream also appeared showing the game as it happened for a spell.

The One claimed the act was "actually quite disgraceful behaviour" while another said "it’s been advertised since the jump that it was behind closed doors." It's also been suggested some of those in attendance have made their way to the secret base from the Albuifeira region.

But one fan pointed out that "travelling to a behind closed doors friendly seems like their problem. Another bluntly put 'Its a f****** training session.'

It's the first time Celtic have been in action since Rodgers returned to the club as boss after replacing Ange Postecoglou. They are due to face the same opposition again this Saturday in another friendly contest.
