Cavani, Varane, Pogba and Shaw — Manchester United injury news for Leicester fixture

Manchester United only have one senior injury absentee as they prepare to return to Premier League duty against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon (5.30pm). Summoned for international friendlies and World Cup qualifiers over the last 10 days, there was only one fresh issue picked up.

Of course, that came when Edinson Cavani (calf) was withdrawn by Uruguay after 30 minutes of their contest with Chile on Tuesday night. It has been confirmed that he will miss out for United at Old Trafford.

Before getting down to business against the Foxes, interim manager Ralf Rangnick has offered an update on Cavani and other players. Here is the current state of play on the treatment table.

Hampered by injuries throughout the season, Cavani suffered another set-back while representing Uruguay. After feeling pain in his calf muscle, the veteran frontman dropped to the turf and was substituted on 30 minutes. Cavani has been ruled out by Rangnick for Saturday afternoon.

What Rangnick has said: "He is injured again and will be out for the next couple of weeks."

United would have been sweating over Pogba — and fellow countryman Raphael Varane — when reports emerged suggesting that both players had picked up injuries during the March break. However, they promptly returned after missing training to feature in the 5-0 victory over South Africa.
