World Cup draw LIVE: Updates and latest news as England learn Qatar 2022 opponents

The wait is almost over as the draw for the 2022 World Cup takes place later today in Doha.

England will be among the nations finding out who they'll be facing at this year's tournament in Qatar as they look to end their long wait for a trophy.

Thiry-two teams will compete for the biggest prize in world football this winter, with only a few places still up for grabs. Wales, Scotland and Ukraine are yet to claim the final spot from Europe, while the UAE, Australia, Peru, New Zealand and Costa Rica are all battling it out for two spots.

Nevertheless, the draw will be going ahead later today, with Gareth Southgate's side among the top seeds alongside the likes of defending champions France, and five-time winners Brazil.

And there of course some big names missing out, with European champions Italy having been knocked out in their playoff semi-final against North Macedonia.

If you want to watch this afternoon's draw, the good news is it's on free-to-air for UK viewers.

Coverage of the draw will be live on BBC One from 4.45pm, with the draw itself set to take place at 5pm. If you can't get in front of a TV, then you can live stream the draw on iPlayer, whether that's online or through the app on your mobile or tablet.

If you can't watch it in any way, never fear, we'll bring you the draw live!
