Carlos Corberan not thinking about Liverpool as Huddersfield Town prepare for Nottingham Forest

Huddersfield Town head to Nottingham Forest for a televised FA Cup Fifth Round tie on Monday night with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.

Liverpool at home is the prize for the winners but the Terriers’ head coach Carlos Corberan is not thinking about what lay ahead.

“I think we need to be thinking about the opponent we are about to face not the next one,” said the Spaniard, “I know how difficult a game it’s going to be playing away against a very strong opponent who are going to demand a lot from us. We want to give our best performance and stay in the cup, that’s the only target for Monday.”

Town may rotate with a heavy workload over the next two weeks and a key game against West Brom on Friday. Corberan is taking each game as they come.

“The biggest and only priority is to be competitive every time we take the pitch,” he said speaking after Friday’s 2-0 win over Peterborough, “we need to switch from the league to the cup but our priority is to treat it with respect and try to stay in the cup, it’s an easy answer in terms of priorities – our only one is to try our best to win each game.”

If Town do make it through to the next round it could mean a fixture move round as it would be played on the weekend of the 19th of March, the same time Town are due to host Bournemouth in the league.

This Fifth-Round fixture was moved to after the week the rest of the ties were played as Peterborough had a backlog of fixtures to fulfil. Bournemouth currently have four games in hand on the Terriers and would be keen to play the game if at all possible but it’s likely the quarterfinal will take priority that weekend.
