Huddersfield Town's predicted XI for Bournemouth clash as Corberan faces formation dilemma

It would fair to say at this point predicted XI pieces for Huddersfield Town are getting harder and harder to do. Not only does Carlos Corberan like to make it difficult for opposition analysts where he can, but also for us invested observers too.

The first issue is formation. The 3-4-3 was everything earlier in the season but then the unbeaten run was based on a combination of a 4-3-3 and a 4-4-2. On top of that conundrum as to how to lay a Huddersfield Town team out as the 4-4-2 often actually plays like a 4-5-1 off the ball and a 4-3-3 on it.

As a great man once sang there are more questions than answers. After a long think about this and possibly a WhatsApp back and forth with Steven Chicken where we realised we weren’t going to agree, we’re going for a 4-3-3 that we think will likely play closer to a 4-4-2 with one defensive midfielder noticeably almost a third defender to get another body in against a good attacking side.

Harry Toffolo starts because; Harry Toffolo. On the right Ollie Turton plays, as he tends to in every game where Corberan wants a tighter defensive line. Pearson talked about how he likes playing with Turton to his right in Friday’s press conference, some solidity on that side will go a long way.

So five in, six to go, and that three-man midfield then – Lewis O’Brien, Jonathan Hogg, and Jon Russell all have a huge game on their hands. Hogg will sit with a defensive brief against a team that attacks, plus he may feel he has something
