Carlos Corberan not focusing on the past as Huddersfield Town prepare for Bournemouth clash

After 17 games without defeat, a 2-0 loss to Millwall midweek saw an end to the club’s impressive run.

It has left the Terriers third in the Championship, three points behind Bournemouth in the automatic promotion place.

But the Cherries have three games in hand on Corberan’s side giving them a massive advantage in the race to earn a place in next season’s Premier League.

Corberan has claimed that his team are no longer focusing on the likes of Bournemouth but instead are paying closer attention to the teams breathing down their necks.

“We were here [at the training ground] in the morning for a meeting with the players but it was just a recovery because after preparing with a lot of intensity for the game the only important thing was the recovery,” said Corberan, via the Yorkshire Post.

“Today I won’t focus on the past, I will focus now on how tomorrow’s game is going to be.

“Sometimes as a team the influence of training is too small to say everything.

“Sometimes it’s what happens on the day, sometimes things don’t work, sometimes something that happens in the game that can have an emotional impact and these are normal parts of football.

“As a group you need the mentality to take it game by game and to know the things we have to do well and the things we have to avoid.”

Corberan refused to reflect on the unbeaten run just yet, claiming he and his players are remaining focused on the next game.

Corberan was happy to confirm that the side had no new injury concerns going into this weekend, and that Carl Eiting will also be fit to return to action following a minor problem midweek.

Huddersfield face rivals Bournemouth on Saturday at the John Smith Stadium.

Now is not the time to reflect on anything that has happened
