Carabao Cup draw LIVE as Manchester United and Man City discover quarter-final opponents

Hello and welcome to the Manchester Evening News' live blog for the Carabao Cup quarter-final draw, due to take place tonight (Wednesday, October 30). Both Manchester sides are hoping to be in the hat for the final eight.

City, who overcame Watford in the third round - the point at which both teams entered the competition - travel to Tottenham with kick off at 8:15pm. United, managed by Ruud van Nistelrooy in his first game in interim charge, host Leicester City.

The Reds hammered Barnsley 7-0 in their opening League Cup match of the campaign. For Erik ten Hag it was a brief bright spot in a dismal start to the season that saw him sacked on Monday. He won the trophy with United in 2023.

Brentford and Southampton are already into the next round after beating Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City respectively on Tuesday. The Bees had to go to penalties following a 1-1 draw whilst Russell Martin recorded a much-needed but narrow 3-2 victory.

We will keep you updated with all the action as it happens throughout the night - including that from Chelsea's tie at Newcastle, Brighton hosting Liverpool, and Arsenal away at Preston North End. The draw is scheduled to take place once City and Spurs finish off, likely around 10:15pm, if it doesn't go to penalties.

The draw, then, will hopefully be starting by 10:30pm (again, at the latest), and finished by
