Caoimhin Kelleher tells Celtic his non negotiable as Liverpool 'next step' response comes with caveat

Caoimhin Kelleher has been touted as the next Celtic No. 1 - and the Liverpool back-up goalkeeper has dropped a hint on what REALLY matters to him amid speculation over his future.

Brendan Rodgers is on the hunt for a new number one with Joe Hart set to hang up his gloves at the end of the campaign - and the Irish international has previously been linked with a move to the Scottish Premiership champions to kickstart his career. Kelleher has spent most of his Anfield career as well down the pecking order with Alisson holding the spot as Jurgen Klopp's undisputed first-choice.

This led to the likes of former Reds star Gary Gillespie insisted that Kelleher could benefit from a change of scenery and a move to Celtic Park to kickstart his career. However, with Liverpool 's first-choice sidelined with injury the 25-year-old has been thrust into the limelight for the English Premier League leaders - starting the last six games.

He is now set to be the man between the sticks with Klopp's side face off against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup Final. Speaking to NBC ahead of the Wembley showdown, Kelleher was quizzed on his "next step" at the end of the season amid speculation over his future.

He conceded that game time was his main focus, responding "Well, I think just at the moment, obviously, it's been better this season playing a lot more games. So, I'm just trying to do as well as I can with those opportunities at the moment. I think that kind of goes hand in hand with international football.

"The better I do here at club level, the chances come more than at international level. So, I'll just try, you know, to play really well here and then try to see what that brings at, you know, with Ireland."

With Alisson likely to return
