Brendan Rodgers strategy behind THAT Celtic interview as Neil Lennon declares he would have done the same

Brendan Rodgers has landed a defence from former Celtic boss Neil Lennon over his spiky post-match interview following the win over Motherwell.

The Scottish Premiership champions fought back from a goal down at Fir Park thanks to a double from Adam Idah and a third goal from Luis Palma - but it's his spiky post-match interview that has got people talking. The Irishman was less than happy in a post-match interview with BBC Scotland's reporter Jane Lewis as he refused to elaborate on his claims that a narrative has already been written about his team this season.

The interview was cut short abruptly with Rodgers referring to the journalist as a "good girl" before walking away. However, Lennon reckons that the point of the angry reaction from boss Rodgers was to create a siege mentality in the Celtic Park dressing room going into the final stages of the title race with Rangers.

Lennon told PLZ: "I would have done the same. Batten down the hatches. Don’t let anything out, don’t let anything in. It’s all about us and we will create our own story. And, ignore the noise. It’s difficult but the noise isn’t the reality.

"I mean they have had two defeats, haven’t they? I think Rangers have had four. So it’s the draws that are killing them at the minute. You are looking at it at half-time and you are thinking it’s not good. The response was great. I think Idah gave them something they lacked - that physical presence.

"They have needed that type of striker for these physical games. So they just have to keep rolling, and I like Brendan Rodgers reaction."
